Blessed Be Photography - Reflecting the Heart of God

Anne Clements has lived in Livonia, New York with her husband Rod for 34 years. She cares for two cats, a Welsh pony, a mini donkey and many ducks. Grandchildren sunsets, sunrise devotions, trees and Ireland are her passions.

Her love of nature was fostered as a child by her Mother. Playing outside with the ever-changing colors, textures and smells gave her a way to use her energy and imagination. Watching thunderstorms with her Dad is a tradition she has passed on to her own children. She spent her teen years in Honeoye Falls and graduated from there. She took a few drawing classes and dabbled in watercolor while admiring her aunt's oil paintings.

While completing her Bachelor's degree in 2005 at SUNY Empire College, she studied the Reggio Emilia approach where children focus on different medias to explore the world around them. Her documentation of that study was done in photographs and text and has been displayed at Empire College in Rochester for 4 years. Anne facilitates a Reggio inspired art studio at Annie's Ark Child Care Center. She exposes children to drawing from life, clay sculpture, painting and collage representation.

Anne has always had a camera in her hands documenting family gatherings and the children at her child care center. She recently started using a digital camera on her fourth trip to Ireland. Her fascination with Ireland began in 1999 and she says, "I take the photos to savor because I miss it so much when I am not there." She and her husband of Irish decent, have explored the Antrim Coast, Connemara, the Burren and the Donegal North West coast. She hopes to return to Ireland soon and would love to go to Italy to see the Reggio Schools first hand (and of course snap many photos of the Italian countryside).

Ireland of the Welcomes, a magazine for lovers of all things Irish has published her photos and an article she wrote about her last trip to the Donegal area.

Anne is a member of the Genesee Valley Council for the Arts and has had her work displayed at the Joy Gallery , SUNY Empire College, and Bohdis in Village Gate - all in Rochester N.Y.

Donegal
Irish for "The Fort of the Foreigners"

The Donegal area is tucked away in the northwest corner of Ireland. Its unspoiled natural beauty includes rugged coastlines, blanket bogs, mountains, lakes and golden beaches.

The isolation that the Donegal area encounters has led its people and their customs to be considered distinct. Their slogan is "Up here it's different."

Irish culture and the Gaelic language are very much alive in this area. Street signs are in the old Gaelic language and the music of the area is distinctive and as changing as the weather. Artists from the area include internationally acclaimed Enya, Clannad, and Altan. Leo's Tavern is a grand place to experience the old Irish songs first hand.

Cruit Island (pronounced "Critch") near the village of Dungloe (An Clochan Liath), county Donegal is a wild coastal area with beautiful wildflowers and wonderful "sea weather." All of the seascapes and beach photos were taken on the Island by Anne Clements.
